There are two kinds of light -- the glow that illuminates, and the glare that obscures. -James Thurber

I have been so productive at work!

yesterday, I spent most of the day cleaning up the mp3's on my ipod. of course, I only have 5635 on there... unfortunately, I did not include my audio books (which are pretty much just harry potter, though lorie did buy the davinci code, so I'll probably rip that) nor the thousand or so that I got from random people which are all pretty much sitting in a folder on my desktop at home.

probably not going to get to those anytime soon.

they all would have been included on my ipod, but due to lack of memory and the want of some semblance of organization, I had to leave them.

"cleaning up" includes the following:
correcting all the ID3 tags so that song title and artist are correct. all album, track, and genre informatino was removed for those that I did not rip from cd's the lorie and I own or that I did not buy through itunes. currently my ipod contains about half and half - half legal and then the others.

adding album artwork to all tracks ripped from cd's. individually, not an impressive task. given that I ripped over 200 cd's - a little more daunting when trying to update them all in one sitting. fortunately for me, I have some time whilst in my cube.

deleting duplicate or bad tracks. duplicates are easy enough. I may still have a little work on the bad tracks.

some fyi's to the world. to fill album artwork box you need an image at a minimum of 150x150. though 300x300 usually looks much better. also, I'm sure other people knew this, but when in itunes, you can change the album artwork between the selected item in your library or on your ipod and the artwork for the track that is playing. when using selected item, you can select multiple items and just drag and image from a web page or from a directory into that box to change the artwork for those items. much much faster than selecting multiple items and doing a get info and dragging into the box there. saves time when updated hundreds of tracks.

tonight will be my last night in here.

and I am happy.

to give you an analogy about my current perception of "it", I will say "it" was planned and sold by an over-optimistic contractor who can really talk and just wanted a sale, lead by a foreman who knows practically everything but doesn't know how to get it all out efficiently, whipping a group of under-appreciated mercenaries who are being forced to slam, kick, and stuff an oversized square peg in an undersized round hole in half the amount of time it takes to get an undersized round peg into its corresponding undersized round hole, using duct tape, staples, and paste. all the while, keeping an eye out for any reason to shift blame to anyone... not to mention the one person with questionable-morality who always works for the contractor because of this that and the other.

but whatever. I'm not about to go burning bridges. I'm just going to stay as far away from those builders as possible.

hopefully the next two months go as care-free for me as possible since I'll probably have more to prove on the place I am going to after the place I'm going to next.

now. hopefully we can get the water pressure in the house fixed, because not having it sucks. and I have to fixe the roof and the ceiling by the fireplace.

I am taking three weeks off in june. I plan on doing it then.

in the meantime, I'll be able to listen to my ipod and actually know what the song is called and which artist is actually performing it. this is all with the assumption that I have the correct information. and I will also be able to utilize the organization contained within the ipod to play specific artists or albums (where I have album information) how neat.

however taking a quick look at the selection of tracks on my ipod and the tracks played the most. to quote a former roommate's former roommate - "I didn't know ipods came in gay".

ok. back to work.

I need to update a few playlists so that I don't get made fun of whilst playing poker and something to keep me going at the gym.
