where does the time go...
posted @ 18:41 by ryan in [ la la-la la-la ]

so I got an ipod from lorie for my birthday. (thanks babe!)

I've been ripping my dvd's to it so I can have something to listen to and pseudo watch at work...

it.

is.

AWESOME.

I'm not sure how it affects my productivity yet (I'm sure it does), but these days just FLY by.

the only problem I have right now is that I only put four movies in the device and I've already watched all of the movies twice.

and it's only Tuesday.

at this rate, I'm going to know all the dialogue to Monte Cristo, Underworld Evolution, Grosse Pointe Blank, and Pirates of the Caribbean...

I'm probably going to remove much of the bulk of MP3's that I have and start ripping entire series... at least enough to get me through the week... or two. right now I'm at around 500MB for two hours - so I can probably put 30 hours of video, which would be about half, and keep about 15GB for MP3's and what not...

seriously though, I was holding out on the whole ipod thing. I was happy with my clie back in the day, but that thing has lost functionality considering all the new fangled phones we got bouncing around... plus I couldn't rip DVD's to it (although the screen was bigger)

well... playing whirly ball tonight. gotta bounce.

lines lines everywhere line...
posted @ 13:13 by ryan in [ la la-la la-la ]

I have been a bit lethargic lately...

I left my book on the plane yesterday - I was almost done with it, and it was a paperback, but it is still annoying that I don't have it...

I ran out of listerine advanced yesterday... and I forgot to buy a new bottle...

this means I will be going to target, today - I think. I will probably get a few other things (but not "stuff" because they are way overpriced everywhere except online) and I will probably stare at the dvd's I would probably want to buy but shouldn't because I suck when it comes to impulse shopping (meaning I spend waaaay too much)

in any case, at the airport and when shopping, when there is a line, I have the tendency to pick the slowest one... it is deceiving though... lines... one might look like there are fewer people with fewer items, so you go with that... but inevitablely on person in the line has to use a check or has to ask about a price of a certain item or the cashier is an idiot and has to scan fifty times before punching in the code manually... or in the case of airports, someone doesn't know to take off watches or to take out their laptop and cameras, or to take off their blazer or shoes or whatever, and they have to go through the detector a million times and then the dude monitoring the xray has to run a bag fifty times before sending the person to be manually checked...

however, I would rather them be sure that everything going through the xray machine is copacetic... so it doesn't really bother me all that much, as I am not usually late getting to my flight...

I'm also bad when choosing lanes in traffic... I look like a dork because I think a lane is good, realize it's not, then I jump back to the lane I was in, only to see the lane I just left start moving...

... ... ...

my hands are dry. I think I need some lotion.

fire and ice...
posted @ 14:32 by ryan in [ la la-la la-la ]

for most of this week, my apartment has been uber hot and muggy...

I thought the air conditioner was broken because it would turn on at all...

I found out last night that there is an emergency cutoff switch that was turned off, which in turn, shut off the AC.

stupid.

last night, I forgot to turn the AC on 'auto' instead of just 'on'...

I was freezing...

I'm not sure which I would rather have. being too hot or too cold...

I'm leaning toward cold, because you can always add layers...

but when it's too hot... there isn't much you can do... except take cold showers or go swimming or something...

but you can sleep in the tub or in the pool, lest you drown.

... ... ...

I'm sleepy.

Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.
