take your normal, everyday cafeteria.
dress it up a bit, because the one I am describing is on the corporate campus, and of course it has to look nice in order to lure the executives into it.
it has got your fruit, yogurt, snacks, juices, frappachinos, coffee, tea, pop, etc.
and like all cafeterias, the place has working hours - but this cafeteria is special... because after all of the workers have left... the cafeteria trusts you...
they have an honor box.
you take what you want and pay for it by dropping money in the honor box.
... ... ...
granted, the cafeteria is in a card access only area, so only employees with access to the building can actually use that cafeteria, but still...
it boggled my mind a bit.
... ... ...
Dante: "Theoretically, people see money on the counter and nobody around, they think they're being watched."
Veronica: "Honesty through paranoia."
Clerks
... ... ...
of course there is no way to get change when you drop money in the honor box...
but it is on your honor... so I am guess that more people, than not, drop in more than what they need, since there is no change.
if you think about it, if everyone is honorable, then that means the cafe must make more money, because of the lack of change that it provides.
and even if there were less scrupulous people out there, that over change must offset any deficit caused by the dishonest swine.
... ... ...
in any case, I will drop in exact change when I visit there today...
... ... ...
"get honor..."
:-P
